Why PWGA Plays from the Gold Tees

Gold tees yardage is the same as when we used to play from the old red tees (before the gold tees were added).

During the 3 weeks that we played the new red tees (after they were moved forward) the pace of play increased from 2 hours to 3.5 hour rounds. This of course angered our members as well as the public who follow our league.

It was determined that due to the shorter yardage our members were now reluctant to tee off until the group ahead was on the green, resulting in only 1 group instead of 2-3 on each hole.

The current Pinecrest scorecard shows the Rating, Slope and Total Yardage for women playing from white, gold or red.
